As proud sponsors of the Queen Elizabeth Foundation – read the story here – we were delighted to receive an invitation to a VIP ‘topping out’ ceremony and reception, held last week at their Leatherhead site.
The occasion was a landmark moment in QEF’s 85-year history to recognise the final stages of their brand-new Care and Rehabilitation Centre. The £15 million development is the charity’s first major new build and their largest ever investment, with the state-of-the-art building due to open in Spring 2020. Designed not only as a centre of expertise for people with a wide-range of disabilities, it is also intended to help them maintain and maximise their independence. Every resident will receive a personalised programme of expert therapy and care, managed by an expert multi-disciplinary team.
Guests included Lady Hamilton of Dalzell and supporters of QEF, including Squire Energy’s very own Steve Gray, but the guest of honour was Ben Rycraft, one of QEF’s residents. Ben has celebral palsy and will be one of the first tenants of the new facility when it opens. He, along with the other attendees, was invited to write a message on a roof tile which will form part of the building for as long as it stands!
Steve Gray, Squire Energy’s representative, says, “It was a huge honour to be there and to see the excitement QEF have for their future and the future of the men, women, boys and girls whom they make a difference for every day.”
