Meet the Team – Sam Sneyd, Operations Planner

sam sneyd squire energy operations planner
What’s your job title?

Operations Planner at Squire Energy.

What does your role involve?

I coordinate and plan all works carried out by Squire Energy. It is my job to contact the local authorities and obtain the relevant agreements required for Squire to carry out our works in the public highways.

What’s your background?

My background was not initially in the gas industry. I studied sport at college and started my working life working at Fulham Foundation, working on the club’s disability access programs, as well as the Surrey FA Centre of Excellence for Disabilities as a coach. Sadly, due to an injury, I had to call time on this role and joined a well-known gas infrastructure provider in 2010. Initially, I worked in both the connections team and emergency admin teams at depot level, before moving to the operations side of the business, handling support resources and depot workload. I was promoted to TM planner, before joining Squire Energy as an Operations Planner.

What’s your favourite part of your job/what do you most look forward to in your job?

I enjoy working with the local authorities – I know this is probably not a common answer, but I thrive on building and strengthening the relationships which help to develop the business further.

Why Squire Energy?

I was drawn to Squire Energy as it was a growing business, and Squire’s core values make my role a fulfilling one, as well helping me develop my skills further.

Most memorable project?

To be honest, I have worked on some pretty memorable projects as I deal with all the projects coming through the business – I can’t pick a favourite!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Cycling, cycling and maybe some more cycling! In all seriousness, I ride a lot – from cross country trips to races on the continent. I also enjoy some down-time with my better half, and parties with a great bunch of mates.

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Energetic, Adaptable, Reliable

We’re off to the pub, what’s your order?

I can’t say no to a good 12-year old rare blend Jamaican rum on the rocks – very particular I know!
