Meet the Team – Daniel Thomas
What’s your job title?
What does your job involve?
My position is a dual role. My main job will be as a Project Manager overseeing the engineering side of the business. As I also have previous experience in planning, so I will be supporting the Project Planner with the organisation of projects and communication with local authorities.
What’s your background (qualifications, previous experience etc.)?
After completing my bachelor’s degree at the University of Leicester, I moved into a career in the downstream gas industry. I spent nine years working for a gas network distributor in the south east of England, the last five as a project manager for the mains replacement division of the company.
Why Squire Energy?
After taking a career break to travel the world, Squire seemed a perfect fit with the company’s excellent reputation in the gas industry. Squire has given me the opportunity expand my career and develop my skills and experience with exciting new projects around the country.
What’s your favourite part of your job/What are you most looking forward to in your job?
It’s too early to choose a favourite part of my job, as I am still learning the ropes. I am however, looking forward to working on the a variety of challenging projects in some interesting locations. In addition I look forward to getting to know the team better, who have already been very welcoming and approachable.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Hobbies etc.
I am a keen skier, and try to get away to the slopes at least once a year. Out of the ski season I play rugby for Old Whitgiftian RFC in South Croydon, as well as a bit of golf from time to time. I also love to travel, especially to unusual and exotic places with a backpack on my shoulders.
If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Professional, pragmatic and reliable.
We’re off to the pub – what’s your order?
If I have the car, it will just be a lime and soda. If not, a pint of Guinness.
