Squire Energy had an early involvement with Canary Wharf Group and Land Securities in securing the significant gas volume required for this unconventional building in the City. The projected gas usage included requirements for a constant demand fuel cell and a high pressure boosted outlet to the appliances. To avoid significant reinforcement costs to National Grid’s gas network, Squire Energy carried out an analysis of the gas usage of the various appliances and internal pipework to demonstrate to National Grid that the boosted gas pressure within the building would not affect National Grid’s network. This analysis has meant that the connection could be made to the existing network with a 355mm sized pipe and thereby eliminating the requirement for a significant and costly reinforcement scheme.
As the building continues to rise the gas installation has been planned in to be completed now that the Olympic embargo has ended and is on going.
